Why CBD Is Replacing Pharmaceutical Medicine!

As the popularity of CBD increases, more and more people are making the switch from pharmaceutical medication to CBD products!

For generations, we have been under a monopoly of big pharmaceutical companies pushing their products on us along with health professionals and doctors. For almost every condition imaginable there was a course of medication available.

Unfortunately, the list of negative side-effects associated with pharmaceutical medications often meant you ended up taking more drugs to manage the side-effects which led to a spiraling cycle of different conditions and negative side-effects. When you combine that with the addictive nature of many opioid-based pain relief drugs, it turns into quite a nightmare.

There is no denying that the pharmaceutical market is enormous. However, with the changing attitude towards cannabis and cannabis-related products over the last decade, we’re beginning to see a subtle shift in the pharmaceutical market towards natural products such as CBD based medication.

What Is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural cannabinoid found in the cannabis and hemp plants. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD doesn’t get you high and has no psychoactive properties whatsoever. Inside all our bodies is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) which many doctors believe is responsible for maintaining health, wellness, and harmony.

The ECS is made up of hundreds of small receptors which are spread throughout the body but mainly located in the central nervous system. CBD interactors and binds with the receptors in the ECS causing a chemical reaction.

 Why Are People Using CBD?

Unlike opioid-based pain management drugs, CBD isn’t addictive and has very little in the way of negative side-effects. CBD is a natural product, and, in most cases, it won’t cause negative reactions which require additional medications. Very few people ever report any negative side-effects.

One of the largest area’s scientists are investigating is the use of CBD as a pain management medication. One study suggested that CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties could potentially make it a very effective pain management medication.

Another report which was originally published in the European Journal of Pain discovered that CBD when applied as a topical gel greatly reduced joint swelling and inflammation in rats which had arthritis. While there haven’t been a lot of conclusive studies done on humans, early studies on animals are producing positive results which scientists hope will cross over to humans as more studies are completed.
